Some said it was one of his most simple collections, yet we were flying high after the Henrik Vibskov show.

Not only did he manage yet again to create some astonishing mixed prints – imagine fabrics resembling a grey sky blended with stains of colour dots and knitted quality in a vivid colour palette almost making one think of the iconic Missioni knittings – but the frame for the show so to say was phenomenal. The catwalk was transformed into a round platform, divided into four rooms decorated with things that reminded me of tools in a shed in the garden accompanied by a remix with electronically forrest sounds from Trentemøller.

Anyhow, still captivated by the cut of the clothes and the variety shown with yet an beautiful cohesive flow, we were surprised when four men joined the models on the round platform. They were dressed in a classical suit with a twist, namely by them wearing shorts and high socks. They started moving the four walls around (I think you can spot them on some of the pictures) only letting the models pass through the still standing doors. Epic

Favorite looks were the all red (probarbly the it colour for next summer) pocket dress, the batique-mixed-print trench for the ladies and the similar printed suit for the guys.

One of the things I always look forward to with the new Henrik Vibskov collections is the accessories, namely the footwear. Showing kind of fifties-a-like shoes for the ladies and some platform sandals, I wasn’t that impressed. They were nice, but I wasn’t feeling the “can’t wait to get my hands on those”. But. Then I noticed the male shoes, a classical black shoe but with cuts and fringes making them look wonderful. I’m definitely keeping them in mind for a DIY project in the future.

All in all, we were buzzing after the show that ended the SS12 fashion week for us. Now we just can’t wait for next year!

We were both pretty excited, when we arranged ourselves in a good spot at the Soulland SS12 show. It was our first menswear show and the atmosphere in the Post Denmark court was joyous. Silas Adler had just launched a new stamp for Post Danmark and we found that, not surprisingly, the inspiration came from that collaboration. For those of you who are not really familiar with the Danish traditions or icons so to say, Post Danmark is the home of all our mailmen, with their red logo and the traditional uniforms.

Anyhow, we were thrilled by the Soulland collection. Silas Adler started out with the very classical Soulland-pieces. Dark blue jackets combined with a tee and a pair of canvas shorts. As the show went on, the volume was turned up. Seeing a white shirt with black and grey flower print made me regretting not being a boy (!) Later on he moved over to a tendency seen a lot at the SS12 shows, namely the print on print with the black and greyish flowers seen above. The next chapter of the show was pastels, cleverly layered in the minimalistic and clear-cut way finishing of with my favorite, the daring pinkish and greenish version of the flower shirt and shorts (not to confuse with some phoney Italian flower shirt). 

You must say that Soulland is sending a message to every guy in Copenhagen and every other fan out there : step up and dare yourself, not only playing with blossoming prints but also with pastels. And if you think it’s too much, there’s always the classical yet edgy styles to fall back on.
