Copenhagen fashion week is in full swing! Highly Dazed have been invited to some amazing shows this year, we will be writing about them the next couple of days. We  cant wait! Hugs from us.

Stine Ladefoged was our first show for the Copenhagen Fashion Week and we went with excitement.

Showing items where the main inspiration source came from knitted braids, I felt it was a very safe and superficial collection. All though we saw through out the fashion week the Danish designers returning to elements they know themselves being good at and that sell, I wasn’t impressed with Stine Ladefoged. Maybe it was the whole setup that didn’t work for me – with a stage where the models came staggering down, the very simple and ordinary styling with leggins and cheap heels or the fact that some of the items had parts falling of.

I don’t wish to be harsh, but I think Stine Ladefoged designs would have benefitted from being displayed in another way, perhaps in a showroom. I could imagine that people are still interested in buying her knitwear, but personally, I don’t understand the reason to want to design items which could have easily been designed by a high street store.

I’m sure the intention was in the right place, but nevertheless it lacked of consistency and vision.

(a bit late) Glimses from CFW. Wednesday hugs W.

DENNIS LYNGSØ is telling us a convincing yet dark story for Spring 2012. The cuts shown were sharp, avant-garde and complementing the female shapes. Tones were kept in black and subtle colours – except for a misplaced and kind of where-did-that-come-from purse showing the Danish flag in red and white. A nationalistic comment, what do I know?

Anyhow, the styles of the collection showed a cohesiveness, but there where some aspects of the styling I didn’t find too flattering for the garments. One thing was the overdone fuzzy hair and another was the fact that the shoes where impossible for the models to walk in. I don’t get why designers will risk models falling and walking unsteadily, because it really does affect where your focus is during the show. I must say, that some elements like the fur collar and the dress with the accentuated hips did make my thoughts wander vaguely off to some details previously shown at Alexander McQueen, of course a totally different calibre – but hey, maybe that’s just me.

In spite of all, you must say Dennis Lyngsø managed to create an impressive collection and we can’t wait to see what his skilled hands will compose for next fall.

The By Malene Birger Show was a biggie. Of cause this too was delayed because of the other shows delaying. You almost learn how it is a must to be late, in a hurry and well, you do get to feel that “can’t wait for what the next one will be showing and it can’t happen fast enough”.
And Malene Birger showed us something. Actually 65 styles in total – don’t know if this was counting the numerous pailliet dresses finishing of the show with a glam-glittering-glory-final.
However only after having outlined the essence of who the Malene Birger woman is. Classical. Tone-in tone. Tailored. Strong but playful. And ageless. Details were dominated by shadowy big scarlett hats together with the most hyped jewelry of this season, namely the metal cuffs. I can’t blame the stylists who have become suckers for them. We too have. The arm-ear-neck-and-so-on-cuffs do seem to emphasize the miminalistic and futuristic elements complimenting almost every stylings we’ve seen.
All in all a GRAND show and experience leaving us thirsting for becoming something that will one day allow us to wear does lovely variations of suits everyday.
